After the win at Rochdale four weeks ago, I speculated that nine more wins were required to secure automatic promotion.
Those nine wins, 27 points, would have to come from sixteen games that we had secured 28 points from in the reverse fixtures already this season. Since then we have secured three wins from five games - nine points from sides that we had secured ten points against in the reverse fixtures.
Our remaining eleven games come requiring, theoretically, 18 points from sides we've already secured 18 points against. Eleven of those points came from our next five opponents prior the the 'Week of Death' matches against the top three sides.
One benefit of the past month's results is that our opponents for the final two games, Grimsby and Brentford, have fallen out of the play-off picture to effectively end their season and lessen their desire to win. Bury and Lincoln have also lifted themselves out of the relegation mire.
The only thing for sure is that we can make another step on the path with three points on Tuesday.
