Turner likes clean sheets

Post match reaction from Hereford United manager Graham Turner after their 2-0 win at Accrington yesterday.

"We desperately needed that win. We showed a lot of character after two successive defeats. It was a good build-up and execution for the first goal.

"The second goal, they were none too pleased with it and there was a chance it might not have crossed the line but it was one of those things. It went our way this week, other weeks it might not.

"I am pleased with the clean sheet. Promotion places will be made on keeping clean sheets. Pitches might be muddy, games might be scruffy, but we have got to keep the clean sheet."

Meanwhile Accrington manager John Coleman lept to the defence of Mark Roberts who 'scored' the own-goal.

"These things happen in football so I can have no complaints. Robbo won't be the first one to score an own goal and he won't be the last.

"Hereford are a good side and I always thought the first goal would be the decider and so it proved. But it was a cheap one to give away and we have done that too often this season."
