News Round Up

York City manager Martin Gray has wants his side to be the fittest in the National League North and to stop dropping points in the last 20 minutes of games. According to the York Press, the Minstermen dropped 12 points from the 71st-minute onwards in games last season meaning they finished 11th instead of a possible play-off place.

Chester's pre-season friendly against Liverpool next Saturday is heading for a sell-out. Tickets went on general sale on Wednesday and now only a few terrace tickets remain. Chester will receive 100% of the gate receipts with chairman David Harrington-Wright telling the Chester Chronicle it's a great gesture from Liverpool and that the two clubs have a great relationship.

Boston United have made their eighth signing of the summer, securing the services of midfielder Spencer Harris. Harris arrives from Shaw Lane, a former club of Boston manager Craig Elliott. The 27-year-old has previously played for Huddersfield Town, Guiseley, Buxton, Farsley Celtic and Hyde United and will provide good competition in the middle of the park.

Salford City have signed a player they think has a huge future as defender James Jones moves from Chester. In a statement, Salford say the expect Jones to shine in the future and they fought off competition from a number of clubs for his signature. The 19-year old was selected for Jamie Vardy's V9 Academy earlier this summer which aims to highlight non-league talent.

Nuneaton Borough have signed former Swansea City and Brighton & Hove Albion midfielder Kemy Agustien. The Netherlands Antilles-born CuraƧao international spent two seasons in the Premier League with Swansea (including a loan spell at Crystal Palace) before moving to Brighton in the Championship. He told the club's official website that he knows some of the coaching staff from his time at the Swans and looks forward to playing in the UK again.

We've Been There Before - Kidderminster

One of the plus points for Hereford FC by being in the National North this coming season will be two 'derby' games against Kiderminster. So continuing BN's look at games against clubs now in the league here's a look back to January 1st 2013.

Bulls take the points at Kidderminster

A Debut For Andy Corbett
A first half penalty by Josh O’Keefe earned The Bulls three valuable points at Aggborough this afternoon in a game that James Bittner turned in a sparkling performance to deny the hosts.

Martin Foyle introduced new signings Chris Sharp and Andy Corbett while Will Evans made way for O’Keefe to return to the starting line up with Smikle getting the nod over Sam Clucas in a left midfield role and Ryan Bowman made a surprise return to the matchday squad being named on the bench.

An early Harriers attack finished with Briggs wild attempt swinging out for a throw before Joe Heath collected a yellow card for a late and unnecessary challenge on Storer near the halfway line with less than three minutes on the clock.  If it was some retribution for Storer’s activities at Edgar Street on Boxing Day, it should have been better disguised.  Malbon robbed Pell in midfield and when Corbett checked the Harriers’ player the referee awarded a free kick twenty yards from goal.  Storer’s shot was deflected into the arms of the waiting Bittner.  Then, in the twelfth minute the Bulls took the lead from the spot.
Pell and Marley Watkins worked a ball through to the energetic Chris Sharp who was taken down by Josh Gowling as he broke into the box.  Josh O’Keefe stepped up to drill the ball low to keeper Lewis’s left giving The Bulls the early lead.
O'Keefe After Scoring Hereford's Penalty
Kidderminster responded with a flurry of attacks and Jamille Matt was lucky to get away with a nasty elbow into the face of Stefan Stam before a snap-shot from the edge of the box brought a fine save from Bittner.

Bittner Making Another Great Save With The Help Of A Boot Up His Rear

Brian Smikle displayed good defensive awareness coming back to see a ball out for the goal kick before Corbett’s deep cross was headed out to Pell who saw his twenty-yarder collected by Lewis.  Fullback Demetriou hauled down sharp but Corbett’s free kick was headed over by Graham.  Bittner came to claim a corner at the back post and was caught by a wayward elbow resulting in several minutes of attention from Dodge and yet another bandage.
Sharp’s diagonal run brought a cross that Perry could only chest into the arms of Dan Lewis before Matt saw his effort from six yards rebound off the foot of the post.  Storer blasted well wide before Matt bough a free kick which justifiably came to nothing as the half came to a close.
HT  Harriers 0  Bulls 1
The second period started with Matt barging into Bittner unfairly as he claimed a cross.  Smikle was harshly penalised for a challenge on Malbon before referee Turner handed the hosts the opportunity to level when he awarded the second penalty of the game.  The ball was launched towards the Bulls box and as it bounced up Corbett and Vaughan challenged for possession.  Corbett appeared to get the ball out for a corner but Vaughan went over the outstretched leg and Turner pointed to the spot.  A heated dispute ensued and O’Keefe was booked for his extended objections.  However, Bittner won the 12-yard battle when he dived to his right to save Storer’s kick.
Bittner Goes The Right Way
Kidderminster launched attack after attack but their glut of midfield possession and thrusting wide play, particularly by Shakes, failed to produce more than shots from outside the box, which Bittner was grateful to gather.  Vaughan lifted his shot from distance well over the bar and Briggs’ effort missed to the left of the goal while a series of corners produced little more than a booking for Briggs for his robust challenge on Bittner.
With twenty-five minutes remaining, Ryan Bowman replaced Perry and Simon Clist bolstered the midfield in place of Brian Smikle.  Vaughan was booked for a clumsy tackle on Marley Watkins before Bittner saved from Ryan Lowe who had replaced Storer.  The Bulls dealt with another batch of corners before Nathan Blissett replaced the largely ineffective Jamille Matt with ten minutes remaining.
Another four corners for Harriers again failed to produce a clear chance before a surging run from Marley Watkins took him past Demetriou and into the box only for his low cross to be scooped away at the last moment with Bowman poised to tap in at the far post.
A generous five minutes of added time past without further scoring and the reported 586 Herefordians in a crowd of 3674 rose to applaud the hardworking display.
FT  Harriers 0  Bulls 1
Hereford: Bittner, Corbett, Graham, Stam, Heath, Watkins, Pell, O’Keefe, Smikle (Clist 66), Sharp, Perry (Bowman 66).  Unused Townsend, McQuilkin, Hackney.
Kidderminster: Lewis, Vaughan L, Demetriou, Dunkley, Gowling, Storer (Rowe 71), Vincent, Shakes, Briggs, Malbon, Matt (Blissett 81).  Unused Vaughan N , Williams, Gittings.
After the injustice of Boxing Day’s result, it was nice to see the tables reversed this afternoon.  James Bittner was outstanding under severe pressure while Graham and Stam put in their now traditional solid performances.  Andy Corbett made a promising debut at right back while Joe Heath generally got the better of his man.  The midfield quartet worked tirelessly and Kyle Perry has his usual handful without looking like hitting the net.

Chris Sharp
Chris Sharp showed enough to suggest that his small fee will be money well spent as his energy and awareness gave the home defender plenty to think about.  Bowman, in his welcome return came through his late session without apparent harm and will surely be nailed on for a start at Grimsby on Saturday.
With the new additions and Marlon Jackson reportedly not far from a return things are beginning to look brighter for manager Martin Foyle.
Big test in Cleethorpes.  See you Saturday.

Charity Football Match At Central Park Tomorrow

Tomorrow UITC will be hosting the Dave Gilbert / Derek Blake Memorial Tournament at Central Park.

Both were stalwarts of Hereford Civil Service FC, and served the club in both playing and non playing roles. Dave organised the first ever Hereford Civil Service Charity Tournament in 2007 to raise funds for cancer charities, and the club has continued with this staging of this fundraising tournament since his untimely passing.

Over 70 players will be taking part in the tournament which starts at 9.30am, and the funds raised through team entry and player registrations will be donated to St Michaels Hospice.

UITC are once again very much looking forward to helping another member of the local Footballing Community raise funds for a much deserved cause.

Entry is free to Saturday's event and UITC will be providing a selection of hot and cold refreshments, which will be available for purchase on the day.

UITC will also be holding a raffle on Saturday and the lucky winner will receive a brand new matchball.

All those visiting Central Park on Saturday, are asked not to park in the nearby housing estate. There is limited car parking at Central Park.

News Round Up

Young York City fans will be able to train alongside the club's players at their training ground. The  Foundation department's 'Train and Play the City Way' programme will let a rare insight into the Minstermen's training routines over a four day period, eating alongside the first-team players and take part in a Q&A session with the manager or captain.

Scott Burton says it was a 'no brainer' to sign for Chester over league-rival Southport, describing himself as a 'tough-tackling midfielder' who 'kicks people'. Burton spent four seasons playing under now-Chester managers Anthony Johnson and Bernard Morley at Salford, where they secured three promotions in four years. The 30-year-old told the Chester Chronicle that even though Southport had just gone full-time, Chester are a massive club and as soon as he knew they were interested in his signature it was an easy decision.

Hereford say they are delighted that Specsavers have continued their sponsorship of the family stand for a third consecutive season. Specsavers told the official Hereford website that they see the club as a huge success story for the people of Hereford and it shows what determination there is in the community for continued success.

AFC Telford United have secured the signing of former Leicester City trialist Andre Brown. The 22-year-old forward has had spells at Worcester City, Kidderminster Harriers and Russell Olympic and will  will bring goals and athleticism to the Bucks, according to boss Gavin Cowan. He told Telford's website Andre is a player he's admired for some time and he's thrilled to have been able to sign him.

Manager of National League North new boys Altrincham, Phil Parkinson, says his side could surprise people this season. Parkinson was appointed manager in April 2017 on the back of two successive relegations. Since then he's won promotion twice and told the National League website that he's excited for the challenge against some big, ex-football league clubs.

UITC Pleased With Progression Through Football Development Centre

Recently UITC saw the conclusion of the last 8 week segment of its Football Development Centre.

The Centre has been taking place on a Monday night throughout last season and was for Boys aged 7-11. The Centre has seen a number of players progress to the Hereford FC Academy and also to Academies run by other Football League / Conference Clubs.

The Board of Trustees and the Coaches are pleased to see this progression of young players.

At the end of season presentation the following players were presented with the following Player of the Year Awards:

Under 8s Alfie Donaldson
Under 10s: Henry White
Under 11s: Toby Bobryzcki

We are very grateful to all those who have helped support the Football Development Centre during the course of the football season.

UITC are planning to making the Football Development Centre more open to the Community when it restarts in the next few weeks. The Centre will become more open access and no trials will be required to join the Centre. Boys and Girls will be welcome to come along and learn football skills irrespective if they are with a grassroots club.

Further details will be announced shortly.

We've Been There Before - FC United

Continuing BN's look at clubs in the National North. Today it's FC United whom Hereford played in the FA Cup on October 20th 2012.

The Bulls stepped over the potential banana skin of FC United to go through to the FA Cup 1st Round proper with a two-goal victory at Gigg Lane, Bury this afternoon.

Hereford Line-up
With seven players unavailable, Martin Foyle recalled James McQuilkin to the starting line-up with Simon Clist dropping to the bench while former FC United striker Phil Marsh started playing off Ryan Bowman up front with just five in total on the bench despite the FA Cup allowing a choice of seven.

An early free-kick conceded by Clucas was floated into The Bulls’ box but Bittner was able to easily collect.  The hosts maintained some good possession with Hereford concentrating on retaining their shape.  Platt made a late challenge on Pell but Gallinagh’s free kick failed to trouble the home defence.  Quilks released Marsh but the move broke down on the edge of the FC box.  Bowman drew a fine save from home keeper Spencer on 13 minutes when a thumping shot was tipped over the bar.  Bowman caught birch in possession but the Bulls’ striker’s effort was just wide.  Jones headed a partial clearance forward and Bittner had to be alert to collect low down.  The game continued at a pace with FC probably shading the time on the ball but The Bulls occasionally threatening on the break.

On the half hour, Quilks was on the end of crude challenge but waived away the attention of Dodge and was quickly back into the action.  Fullback Neville broke into the box to get a header on target but Bittner was equal to it.  Clucas darted past a couple of defenders to break into the box but his set-up for McQuilkin was dragged wide.
It's a Penalty now go away says the Referee
Then on 35 minutes Marsh appeared to be on the wrong end of a foul in the box, which was ignored by the referee, but McQuilkin’s shot on the rebound was handled and Ryan Bowman fired home from the spot.

Keeper goes the right way but it goes in
Bittner did well to punch away a well-placed free kick from Platt after Gallinagh was penalised on the flank.  McQuilkin clipped a free kick just wide just before the players trooped off for the half-time refreshments.
HT FC United 0  Bulls 1
Clucas was clattered early in the second period and the free kick was cleared for a throw wide on the right but little was forthcoming as a result.  Jerome Wright tested Bittner with a sharp on target effort and Stam showed his class to clear a through ball from Neville.  Then Pell had to leave the field presumably still suffering from a knock taken in the first half.  Clist who immediately dropped into midfield replaced him.  Norton won a corner off Stam but Bittner was out to claim despite a collision with Cottrell, which resulted in both parties receiving treatment.
James Bittner was the busier of the two keepers
Stam got in a couple of timely headed clearances but The Bulls were a little fortunate when Norton’s header went just wide with Bittner struggling to cover.  Bowman’s determination forced a corner with thirty minutes remaining but Clucas’ flag kick was scrambled away.  A short FC corner was clipped in and Norton missed a golden opportunity to level the scores when he sent his free header wide of The Bulls’ goal.
Then, around twenty minutes remaining, Foyle withdrew McQuilkin to introduce Kyle Perry in a somewhat surprising change.  Bowman won a free kick in the corner and Clucas’ cross was headed on target by Stam but cleared off the line when Perry tried to force home.

Will Evans with Kyle Perry
Jerome Wright caught Heath with his boot when mistiming a volley and referee Joyce, perhaps, a little harshly, issued a straight red card before The Bulls doubled their advantage.
Ryan Bowman, with an individual run, broke into the box and fired past Spencer for his and The Bulls second goal with ten minutes remaining.
Bowman beats several defenders and scores Hereford's second goal
FC substitute Amadi had an effort that hit the foot of the post and Gallinagh had to hack one away off the line as the hosts desperately tried to claw their way back into the game.  Bowman beat the FC back line to a through ball but his pull-back to Smikle was wasted and shortly afterwards referee Joyce brought the match to an end in front of 2212 including 259 travelling Herefordians.
FT FC United 0  Bulls 2
Bulls: Bittner, Gallinagh, Todd, Stam, Heath, Clucas, Pell (Clist 55), McQuilkin (Perry), Evans, Marsh (Smikle 88), Bowman.  Subs unused: Hanford, Feeley
FC United: Spencer, Jacobs, Birch, Jones, Neville, Platt, Stott, Cottrell, Wright, Wolfenden, Norton. Subs: Daniels, Worsnop, Amadi, Carr, Cheetham, Krou, McGrath.
£12,500 in the bank.  Ball 51 in the First Round Proper draw 1.00pm tomorrow.

From The Archives - Fixture Computer Unkind To Hereford

With the fixtures due to be released next Wednesday, Bulls News looks back to this day in 2003.

At the time, Graham Turner felt that the computer that selected the Conference fixtures could have been kinder to Hereford United.

But the season didn't turn out too bad for the Bulls as they finished second, and the 9-0 win at Dagenham and Redbridge remains the joint biggest win in the league's history.

Unkind To Hereford

By Organic Bull

"It seems to be our lot that we get a real challenge on the opening day of the season," Turner told BBC Hereford and Worcester. "To go to Tamworth was always going to be a difficult one, especially a side that won the Dr. Martens League.

"We are particularly disappointed with the Christmas/New Year games. To have to travel to Exeter and for them to come to us, it's a long way for these games. I know they are geographically a long way from any other Conference clubs but for instance we pass Forest Green going south and they are going north past us up to Telford. It leaves me baffled how we've got a fixture like that and I'm sure our supporters will be disappointed with the amount of travelling involved in the New Years game."

Trevor Owens then asked Graham Turner how the fixtures were selected.

"What happens is that you get a form which asks if we want to be paired with anybody, are we close enough to a premiership or league club we want to avoid being at home on the same Saturday. There is no problem with us in that respect. Then we get a choice of games over Christmas. We put down our three preferences which were Shrewsbury, Telford, or Forest Green. So as luck has it we have got none of them.

"And then any other dates we want to avoid so we asked for Grand National Day, to avoid being at home on that day simply because last season it coincided with a big race meeting at Hereford. It wasn't just the National although there is a lot of interest in that but I think we lost a fair bit of support to the local racecourse so we asked if we could avoid that day and they have done that for us."

Returning to the first game of the new season at Tamworth, Turner continued: "It's a big challenge for them and we know what we will face a ferocious game. I made the comment after the game when they played Burscough in the Umbro Trophy might come back to haunt me. Some Tamworth supporters asked me how I thought they would do in the Conference and I said they would be relegated by Christmas on the evidence of what I saw against Burscough.

"But I have seen them other times than that and I know they are a decent side with a lot of experience there. We could not ask for a tougher opening game. It's a tight little ground and there will be plenty of vocal support for them from the terraces but we have got to prepare right through pre-season. We have a well-balanced programme now and we shall be ready for the day and we shall have completed our squad of players by them."

News Round Up

The signing of defender James Clifton means Alfreton Town's squad is almost complete. New boss Heath told the Derbyshire Times after 18 quality players as he rebuilds the side, and there are two more new faces expected this week to all but complete his player hunt.

New football operations manager at Telford United, Luke Shelley, has told the Shropshire Star the club will do everything in its power to make next season a success. He says the new management team have got their heart and soul in the club and there's a good base to create something successful.

Solihull Moors have made their first summer signing by completing the capture of defender Alex Gudger from Brackley Town. The 25-year-old is Tim Flowers’ first signing as Moors boss, after being appointed as manager last week.

Former Hereford defender Nathan Summers is targeting the title with new club Evesham United. 22-year-old Summers told Gloucestershire Live that he's looking forward to kicking on next season as he's still young, and there's no reason why Evesham can't win the Southern League West Division as they've always been a strong side in the league.

Midfielder Ben McKenna has become the tenth player to agree terms with Bradford Park Avenue for next season. The 25-year-old returns for his second spell at the Horsfall Stadium, signing from league rivals Curzon Ashton, having spent three months with the club during the 2016/17 season.

New signing John Pritchard is excited that Chester face Liverpool in a preseason friendly, with the Champions League finalists committing to bringing a number of first team players who aren't on World Cup duty. Left-sided player Pritchard joins the Blues from Ashton United and told the Chester Standard that playing for a bigger club comes bigger responsibility.

We've Been There Before - Darlington

Continuing BN's look at clubs Hereford will play this coming season, Darlington is another team now in the National North that Hereford have met before.

This report on a game played on April 12th 2008.

Super Hooper fires Bulls to win

Hereford United grabbed an important away victory at Darlington courtesy of a second half goal from Gary Hooper. With Stockport beating Peterborough, nothing less than a victory was required and Hooper came up trumps by smashing in mid-way through the second half to the delight of the travelling army. The three points confirms that Hereford will appear in the play-offs, although the hope is for much greater things.
Image result for gary hooper hereford bulls newsThere were two changes from last weekend’s dramatic late draw against Chester City, with Sammy Igoe making way due to injury. Simon Johnson replaced him to line up against his former club. John McCombe was also ruled out, with Karl Broadhurst coming in at centre-half alongside Dean Beckwith. Former Bull Rob Purdie started on the right-wing for Darlington, whilst striking duo Guylain Ndumbu-Nsungu and Tommy Wright both started, despite doubts over their match fitness.
The game started slowly, on a tricky pitch, with the first chance falling to Clint Easton after a long free-kick by Wayne Brown had found him via a large bounce, but the winger’s half-volley was blocked by Neil Austin. A deep corner by Easton found Hooper at the back post but his powerful effort was also blocked, before United’s encouraging start nearly found a goal, after some good work from Ben Smith and Hooper, Easton collected on the left-hand side of the box but dragged a shot wide. The winger was at the centre of everything Hereford did in the early stages, and a shot with his right foot took a huge bobble on the turf, and Darlington ‘keeper David Stockdale managed to block the shot…with his head!
The Whites continued to probe, with Steve Guinan slicing wide after a quick one two with Hooper whilst a few minutes later, Guinan’s header released Easton on the left, and he cut in but saw his shot held by Stockdale. Richard Rose got forward well to support Easton, and his clipped cross was nodded harmlessly over by the stretching Hooper. Darlington’s first chance of note fell to Purdie, as he cut in from the right-hand side and shot with his left-foot; the ball took a slight nick of a Hereford man and fell a yard or so past the post. Just before half-time, a Purdie corner was headed back across goal to Michael Cummins who tried to lob Brown with a header, but the former Chester man clawed it over the bar.
The second half started equally, with Purdie looking the main danger for Darlo. His cross-field run resulted in a free-kick; the set-piece was blocked, and two following efforts were also blocked as United defended heroically. At the other end, Rose won the ball in a dangerous area on the left-hand side and cut in, but failed to test Stockdale from the angle. Wright had two half-chances in the space of a few minutes; firstly he headed without power at Brown after Austin had crossed, whilst a break allowed him to shoot from 20 yards, but again, there was little power in it and Brown was equal to it.
Purdie was the only player who really tried to get the ball down and run at Hereford, this time another forward run and a slipped pass to Ndumbu-Nsungu allowed the striker to shoot, but he caught it badly and it fell harmlessly wide. The Bulls took the lead deservedly, after Hooper had won the ball in the final third. He blocked an attempted pass, and the ball rebounded to Johnson who immediately gave it back to Hooper. His pace took him into the box, but his initial shot was saved; however, he collected again, set himself before blasting into the back of the net to hand The Bulls the lead.
A series of subs were made in a short space of time; Theo Robinson replaced Hooper, whilst Darlington made three changes. Scott Wiseman came on for Austin, Ndumbu-Nsungu made way for Ricky Ravenhill and finally, Craig Nelthorpe took the place of Ben Parker. United saw out the final minutes confidently, and both Guinan and Robinson struck shots into the arms of Stockdale, whilst the closest Darlington came was in the midst of a series of corners, Wisemen glided a header past the post.
At the end of the day, Hereford won and that’s all that they can do, but other results didn’t go brilliantly for United. Stockport’s victory at Peterborough means County keep up the pressure on Hereford, whilst Posh will try to win promotion in their next game at Edgar Street. MK Dons also failed to win, and they will be going out to win promotion on Tuesday, when Hereford are the visitors once more. Today though was a good start to the so called “Week of death” with the defence looking strong, including Broadhurst who was a worthy replacement for McCombe.
Hereford: Brown, McClenahan, Beckwith, Broadhurst, Rose, Johnson, Smith, Diagouraga, Easton, Guinan, Hooper.
Subs: Esson, Collins, Taylor, Gwynne, Robinson.
Darlington: Stockdale, Austin ,White, Foster, Parker, Purdie, Cummins, Kennedy, Valentine, Wright, Ndumbu-Nsungu.
Subs: Kazimierczak, Miller, Nelthorpe, Ravenhill, Wiseman.

Greenslade Is Beadle's Latest Signing

22-year-old Danny Greenslade has signed for Hereford from Weston-Super-Mare for an undisclosed fee.

He has previously been described as 'one of the best left-backs in non league football' on the official Seagulls website.

Hereford had a bid accepted for Greenslade last October, but the defender turned down the move as he wasn't prepared to drop down a level to the Southern League.

The former Bristol Rovers youngster was a regular in the National League South last season with Weston.

Beadle told the official Hereford website: "We had an offer accepted for Danny last season," but because we were in the Southern League, he just didn't want to drop down. His ambitions are to return to full-time football, and I think he felt that moving to the level we were at last season was perhaps too big a risk for him.

The left-sided defender turned down a new deal at the Seagulls this summer, but because he was under contract last season and under twenty-four, the move requires compensations.

The fee will remain undisclosed, but Beadle says it's good that the board ensured he had the money to bring him in.

"It is great that the board have made the funds available for us to bring Danny in, he is a player who has got a lot of quality about him, he'll get up and down the pitch and has a lovely left-foot on him, he has a great character and we’re excited to be working with him."

Another Signing Yet To Be Announced Said Beadle

Pete Beadle has spoken to the official Hereford YouTube channel about the forthcoming season.

Hereford's manager spoke about the fresh faces he's brought into the side and said there's another signing yet to be announced.

Beadle said: "It's always a tough summer when you're battling for players and hoping to bring the right ones in, hoping you've got the right ones with the right characters.

"I think we've done that, we've proven over the past three years that our recruitment has been pretty good. We've gone a little bit different this year, we've gone a little bit younger, with a little bit more potential, and a little bit hungrier maybe, because of the level we are going into, we're happy and we can't wait to get going."

Beadle has said before that new signing Callum Sainty was someone he'd been interested in for some time, and he'd tried to bring Lewis Hall in last season.

"Callum's been on our radar for the last nine months, through last season and Kieran [Thomas] I've known about for a long time anyway. Lewis [Hall] we spoke to Gloucester last year about because we were trying to solve our left-back issue, but they obviously didn't want to let Lewis go so we just kept an eye on what he was doing.

"Harry [White] was something that came to us towards the end of last season, we did quite a bit of homework on him before we decided to speak to him.

"Then there's one other yet to be announced, but it's someone we've gone for before. They're all players that we feel can bring certain attributes, and when you bring them into the group will make it stronger again and that's what we're looking to do next season."

Beadle said he's still on the lookout for another goalkeeper and another centre-half, and he's waiting for a call to ask about Dara O'Shea returning.

"We've spoken to a couple of people but for one reason or another it hasn't worked out, logistically, financially, bits and bobs," Beadle told interviewer Keith Hall.

"What I've said about the squad this year it's extremely versatile and there's lots of players in that group that can play a multitude of positions. We're not in any rush or desperate state to take another centre-half, we'll do that when either when the right one comes along or when we feel we need an out-and-out centre-hall we may need to take one on loan.

"We'd love to have Dara [O'Shea] back and I'm waiting for a call back from Darran to ask exactly that question. We'll wait and see, at the moment we're not desperate."
