HUST, the Hereford United Supporters Trust, held their AGM at Edgar Street this evening commencing shortly after 7pm.
Vice-chairman Martin Watson took the chair with Andy Carr alongside him on top table. About 35 members were present.
Chairman Chris Williams was unable to chair the meeting as he was in Scotland on university business. Board members Mike Langford and Andy Swift were unable to attend as they are both on holiday.
The chairman's report acknowledged that the HUST 'deal' with the club wasn't to everyones liking.
'There are those who seek to destabilish our progress, there are those who believe we have sold out the fans by not having a majority share. I've been party to all of those discussions and believe me we wouldn't be here without our current deal.'
Williams admitted that the last two years had been 'tremendously hard work' and asked for more help for HUST.
"If anyone really has the interest of this club at heart please come and work with us."
His report was accepted.
The next item was the accounts. They hadn't been sent out to supporters as they were only in draft form. The accountants who had done the previous accounts, Lockett and Co, had recently told HUST they were unable to continue to do them.
A profit of £29,229 was noted.
There followed some questions about HUST's second year of operation. Watson admitted that over the past six or so moths information from HUST had been 'poor'. He accepted criticism from the floor but noted there were just five people on the board which, including co-opted members, could be 13 strong.
A speaker from the floor asked about the working group. He was told that there were just four members at its last meeting.
Another member mentioned 'governance'. He felt HUST needed someone to do this task. Watson replied that if there was anyone who could do this to please come forward.
Watson was then asked if he could give full committment to HUST. It was at this point that he said he was stepping down.
One member commented that HUST would be poorer with Watson absent. There followed applause for his work.
Another member asked what the HUST £10 membership fee 'bought'. Replies came from the floor such as shares in the club, help for UITC, a route to the HFC board, lower prices for juniors to watch games.
Next item was the decision to postpone the HUST's elections. Discussions about this matter were protracted. In essence it appears HUST had not followed the rules so the election couldn't take place. HUST were told to change their rules about elections.
The next AGM would take place on Thursday September 22nd 2016.
A member then summed up the evening saying it had been a difficult meeting in challenging times for HUST. There followed a vote of thanks to Watson.
The meeting ended at 8.45pm.
