Top firm working on Edgar Street pitch

The playing surface at Edgar Street will be greatly improved for the coming season.

The internationally renowned stadium specialists Clive Richardson Ltd have commenced work to install a new drainage system before concentrating on producing a top playing surface for The Bulls.

Main large calibre drains are being sunk on both sides of the pitch with subsidiary drains at five-metre spacing right across the pitch. The drainage trenches are being backfilled with gravel and finish in pits at the Meadowend from where surplus water will be pumped away.

The top surface will be subjected to a system of decompaction before being top-dressed and re-seeded. The whole process, subject to the weather, is expected to take a little over a week with staff working up to 9.00pm on Monday evening.

Clive Richardson Ltd. are highly experienced in pitch preparation and maintenance having been employed to prepare pitches in the Ukraine for EURO 2012. They are also currently working in Brazil as pitch preparation contractors for the FIFA World Cup.
