Forget Newport, the Bulls face a tricky game on Saturday when they face Ebbsfleet United in a Conference match at Edgar Street.
The two sides will meet for the first time since Gravesend and Northfleet 'rebranded' themselves to Ebbsfleet to take advantage of the naming of the nearby Eurostar train terminal. We played the Fleet across four Conference seasons, losing only one of the eight encounters. In the last match between the sides, six and a half years ago, the Bulls won 2-1 despite playing an hour with ten men after loanee Daryl Taylor was sent off.
The Bulls will be hoping for a bumper Bank Holiday weekend crowd to boost the coffers ahead of the transfer window closing next week. With the small squad stretched already due to injuries, boss Martin Foyle is hoping for reinforcements but the only way that will happen is if the fans back the team by turning out in numbers on Saturday. Striker Marlon Jackson will again sit out the match due to suspension, but fellow forward Ryan Bowman should be fit enough to at least take a place on the bench.
Ebbsfleet boss Liam Daish brings his side to Edgar Street with a record of one win, one draw, and one loss so far this season. Their opening day 5-4 win over Nuneaton made the headlines but they have scored only once since, with former Bull Moses Ashikodi missing a penalty in their draw with Wrexham, though their frontline is potent. Ashikodi, who scored 11 times in 16 games during his previous spell at Stonebridge Road, is joined by fellow former Bull Nathan Elder and Liam Enver-Marum, who has scored twice this season to add to the 13 he netted last term.
Hereford United vs Ebbsfleet United, Edgar Street, Saturday 25th August, 3.00pm.
