Trevor Benjamin has signed for Conference North side Gainsborough Trinity on non-contract terms.
The deal is expected to be short term as he gains fitness after struggling through pre-season with the eye problem that limited his chances at Edgar Street during the second half of last season. Both Chester and Cheltenham gave him trials, but neither were convinced over his current fitness, and his non-contract signing would leave him free to sign for another club on a permanent deal.
Gainsborough boss Peter Swann told the Lincolnshire Echo: "Trevor is a quality player who is just short of match practice at the moment. He will join the squad for tomorrow's game at Solihull Moors"
