This look at tomorrow's match between Hereford United and Yeovil Town has been written by Ian Clarkson for the PFA website. It comes from a preview of this weekends League One fixtures.
HEREFORD UNITED v YEOVIL TOWN
Life in League One hasnt been a bed of roses just yet for Hereford, but manager Graham Turner isnt looking for excuses.
They were most bookmakers favourites for a swift return to League Two following promotion last year and defeats at Leyton Orient in the League and Crystal Palace in the Carling Cup have done little to dispel those predictions.
But if the players were looking for a sympathetic ear from Turner after a brace of 2-1 defeats then they were sadly mistaken. "The two goals that we gave away were diabolical ones to concede,' he said after the defeat at Orient. "I thought we showed them too much respect and gave them too much room and time on the ball. It's a new experience for a lot of our players and we have to believe that we can live with good sides like Leyton Orient.
"We don't have a hard luck story,' he added after the 2-1 defeat at Crystal Palace. "It's now down to the players to show that they have the bottle to bounce back against Yeovil on Saturday."
Yeovil opened with a 1-1 draw against Walsall but followed that up with an unexpected midweek cup win at Charlton. Russell Slades squad is wafer-thin and he has added Aaron Brown on non-contract forms to boost his defence, which was outstanding in the win at The Valley.
Slade singled out debutant goalkeeper Josh Wagenaar for particular praise. He said: "Josh made three world-class saves and in the first half we could have been two or three goals down. But we weathered the storm and came into our own."
CLARKYS VERDICT: Two sides who are likely to be looking over their shoulders this season but Hereford will be celebrating their first League One win this century as they undo the Glovers.
