News Round Up

Accrington have resigned midfielder Ian Craney for a club record fee of £85,000. The 25 year old was sold by Stanley for £150,000 12 months ago, and has signed a three and a half year deal at the club. Brentford have confirmed Andy Scott as their new manager after taking ten points in five games since Terry Butcher left.

Lincoln have signed Cheltenham full back Lee Ridley and Chesterfield winger Adam Smith on month loans. Ridley has just completed a loan at Darlington while Smith, who can also operate as a striker, has featured in just seven games this season. Chester have loaned Dean Bennett to Kidderminster until the end of the season. It is his third spell at Aggborough.

Macclesfield have cancelled the contract of midfielder Adam Murray, their sixth departure of the transfer window. They paid £17,500 for him a year ago from Torquay, but he asked to be released from his deal. He has joined Oxford. The club have also loaned Andrew Teague to Tamworth for a month. Wrexham have added former Port Vale boss Martin Foyle to their backroom staff. Coach Steve Weaver and Scout Brian Prandle have departed the club.

Rochdale have signed teenage defender Marcus Holness from Oldham on a free transfer after a successful loan spell. The race for ex-Bull Stuart Fleetwood hots up again, with Cheltenham increasing their six figure bid in the wake of Gillingham's renewed effort. Notts County have signed Felix Bastians on loan from neighbours Nottm Forest. The German u-19 international has just finished a loan spell at Chesterfield.

Kidderminster chairman Barry Norgrove has revealed that they had 16 League scouts in attendance for their New Years Day game. Most were believed to be watching striker James Constable. Stafford are on the lookout for new faces. Ex-Bull, and joint caretaker boss, Neil Grayson has just 15 fit players available after defender Fred Murray quit the club.

Luton will be forced to sell their best players despite their lucrative cup match with Liverpool. Up to six players are being eyed up by other clubs, with Administrators confirming that sales will have to be made to balance the books. One of those expected to leave is ex-Shrewsbury man Dave Edwards.

Torquay boss Paul Buckle has signed a new two year deal. The Gulls have won 17 of 24 Conference matches with him in charge. Mansfield takeover talks are to continue with a joint venture between Chairman James Derry's consortium and two Australian businessmen. The Aussies made moves before Derry's bid, but were initially shunned during the summer.

Wycombe have confirmed the sale of striker Jermaine Easter to Plymouth for an undisclosed fee. The 25 year old left for Home Park on loan in November. Wycombe boss Paul Lambert has promised a big name striker to replace him, with the odds being on his former Celtic colleague John Hartson.
