Hereford United's new director of football, Gary Peters, revealed that he hasn't yet signed a contract with the club.
In the publicity announcing that Peters was coming to Edgar Street, it was reported by the OS that Peters has shaken hands on a deal which will keep him at the club until May 2014.
"No I haven't signed it," Peters told tonight's Fans Forum.
"I thought I'd come here tonight and see if you wanted me!
"No, I really haven't honestly.
"I think you need to come in and get a feel. If it doesn't feel right, if the people are not behind the club, you can walk away, you don't have to stay.
"Sometimes you can work without a contract if you've got enough confidence that you can do the job.
"Signing a contract is something that makes it final and it just wasn't ready.
"So they announced I was coming here, the contract hasn't been signed yet, I needed to get a feel from the supporters that there is fight in everybody and that it's the right place for me to come.
"If I was sat here today and everyone said we don't want you here, there might have been a change of mind.
"But I'm getting the right feeling in the changing room, getting the right feeling from Jamie, certainly getting the right feeling from the directors that have brought me in because they have opened up and said they need help and I'm getting the right feeling tonight.
"I think that people genuinely feel that the club needs help, I've got a lot of experience and I hope I can help you.
"If anything, tonight has made me more sure that I'm going to sign a contract as soon as it's ready."
Peters' words were given a round of applause by those at the Forum.
