Leslie Back for a Month

Shrewsbury Town's Steve Leslie has joined Hereford United on loan for a month.

"Steve hasn't figured much so far this season so it is an opportunity go out on loan and get some game time," said manager Graham Turner.

"He went to Hereford last season and we saw a good reaction from him and hopefully that will be the case again.

"Steve still has a lot of potential but he needs to start fulfilling that, he had good vision, a great left foot and I still believe he can become a good player."

Director of football Gary Peters knows Leslie from their time together at Shrewsbury.

Leslie first joined the Bulls on March 17th 2011. He scored his first goal against Chesterfield on April 9th.

Hereford were 1-0 ahead at half-time.

A neat passing move involving Colbeck and Featherstone then created the second goal for Hereford. With 76 minutes gone, Leslie was the recipient some 25 yards from goal, and he fired a spectacular, raking effort into the far corner of the net, giving Lee no chance of a save. You wait a long time for such a goal to celebrate, and, just as in the apocryphal case of the buses, another turns up straight away! 81minutes on the clock and Colbeck makes his entry for the Goal of the Season, smashing an unstoppable shot into the opposite corner, again from fully 25 yards.

What joy! Shell-shocked Spireite fans pouring out of the ground, the game played in an excellent spirit, and the Met men saying that there is “more to come” on the weather front. In regaining the three points controversially removed by the league, one could see that our strength is not in never having fallen, but……………..you know the rest.

Update: Jamie Pitman has welcomed the return of Leslie.

"He did exceptionally well for us last season and fitted in well here," Pitman told BBC Hereford and Worcester.

"It's something we have wanted to do for a long time. Hopefully, he will bring in the same enthusiasm and quality as he did last year."
