Hoult Set To Start Saturday

It is being reported that Russell Hoult will start in goal on Saturday.

BBC Hereford and Worcester's Dave Bradley tweeted the news earlier today along with news of Steve Leslie's arrival on loan.

Leslie's arrival means the Bulls now have seven loanees at the club. With Will Evans ineligible to play against his parent club, and David Cornell on international duty, there will be only five loanees available for selection on Saturday - the maximum allowed in a matchday squad.

The decision to not sign a loan keeper may be a financial one. With an available keeper at the club the Bulls could not apply for a seven day 'emergency' loan for a stopper, meaning they would have had to have taken a player for a full month.

With so many loanees already at the club, that player would have been unlikely to have even featured on the bench in subsequent games after Saturday's trip to the County Ground meaning that a months wages would have been paid for one game. With resources tight at Edgar Street, thanks to the squad budgeting rules, it was likely that the management team opted to preserve the available wages for a future signing - possibly even today's arrival of Leslie.

Hoult, who turns 39 in six weeks, would be one of the oldest players to play for the club. The record is currently held by fellow keeper John Jackson, who played for the Bulls six days after his 40th birthday. Another stopper, former Scotland international George Wood, turned 39 during his single season with the Bulls.
