Dan Connor is expected to settle the remainder of his contract with Hereford United. The goalkeeper sustained a freak injury last season whilst getting out of a car and has recently been advised to consider giving up goalkeeping.
It is understood that Connor and the club had discussions last week and the basis of a deal was agreed subject to the paperwork being completed.
UPDATE 5.30pm: The club have confirmed the news that Connor is to give up goalkeeping. However in a nice gesture from the club Connor is to stay with the club.
"Without getting ahead of ourselves, we believe Dan could prove a hit in our commercial areas of matchday hospitality; sponsorship/fundraising activities and the Club Shop," said chairman David Keyte.
"It would be a complete change for him, so we are going forward with an open mind. He does, however, have the Irish 'gift of the gab' and a twinkle in his eye!"
