News Round-Up

AFC Halifax have won promotion to Conf North after winning the Evo-Stik Premier. The reformed side have won back-to-back promotions since the old Halifax Town folded. The Conference are considering moving the end of season play-offs as they clash with live Champions League games. The games will be shifted back two days each to avoid coverage if Darlington, who play in the FA Trophy final shortly after, do not qualify.

Rushden are reported to have received £50,000 from Peterboro for keeper Joe Day, as well as receiving £60,000 from Lee Tomlin's transfer to London Road in one go rather than in stages. The money will go to ease their cashflow and enable them to pay the wage bill for March. Diamonds captain Aaron O'Connor admitted to the press the players were considering a strike after being given no information by the board over the financial situation, but were talked out of it by the PFA.

Lincoln striker Ashley Grimes has been banned for two games after picking up his tenth yellow card of the season. The on-loan Millwall man will miss games with Bury and Crewe. Chesterfield defender Gregor Robertson will miss several months after rupturing an achillies tendon at Edgar Street yesterday. The 27 year old only came back from a broken leg in November.

Rotherham have announced that defender Johnny Mullins will not play again this season due to a knee injury that requires surgery. The former Kidderminster man may also miss the start of next season.
