News Round Up

Stockport's administrator has confirmed receiving a bid for the club from a consortium headed by former chief executive Sean Connolly and fans group organiser David Schofield. The administrator has entered an exclusive agreement with the '2015' group, kicking the failed Jim Melrose bid into touch. A third bid failed to materialise, with the new bidders hoping to complete the process within six weeks.

Wrexham are the latest side to announce cost cutting measures for next season after they announced losses of £1.5million for last season. A Directors statement accompanying the accounts says the club is debt free after they sold development land around the stadium for twice the estimated value to the club's parent company. Their playing budget for the Conference season was £1.4million, but they finished 15 points adrift of the play-offs.

Ex-Bull Chris Hargreaves is likely to miss the bulk of the remainder of the regular season with a knee problem, but the 37 year old is aiming to be fit to play for Oxford in the play-offs. Eight clubs have been accepted for the new Welsh Premier 12 team league next season. 24 clubs applied for the spots with the initial eight, including TNS, passing the qualification rules at the first attempt. The eight qualifiers must now finish in the top half of the current league to confirm entry.
