It is 48 years since Accrington Stanley resigned from the Football League. On March 2, 1962, they lost their last game to Crewe 4-0. They tendered their resignation on the 6th, and had it accepted on the 11th, due to debts of around £50,000 - around £750,000 in today's money.

The 26 year old was a trainee a Millwall before being convicted of attempted murder, but since being released from prison has returned to the game with a string of clubs in the south east. Burton's signing of ex-Chester man Shaun Kelly has been delayed due to problems with his registration with Chester.
