The Football League are claimed to be about to name electric company Npower as their new sponsor.
With Coca-Cola's six years as title brand ending in the summer, FL chiefs have been struggling to find a new main sponsor at the same level as the £6million a year from the drinks firm. Several national papers claim Npower are to sign a three year deal worth just half that figure, valuing the whole deal at just £9million.
Meanwhile, next season's play-off finals are also the subject of negotiation. Wembley will host the Champions League final on May 28th, 2011 - the weekend that the three play-off finals would normally be held there. The FL have a 20 year agreement to play the games at Wembley, usually on that Bank Holiday weekend, and the two sides are seeking a compromise agreement.
