Sven Out, Rodwell In At Magpies

Sven Goran Eriksson's brief romance with League Two is over after he left Notts County in the wake of their latest takeover.

Owner no.3 of the season is former Lincoln chief Ray Trew, who brings with him former Boston chairman Jim Rodwell as Chief Executive. Rodwell steered Boston out of the Football League during his year at the helm, as the financially stricken club lurched from crisis to crisis with a string of mysterious owners failing to deliver on promises. Sound familiar?

The news of Rodwell's arrival could unsettle folk at Crawley, where his former Boston buddies Steve Evans and Paul Raynor may be keen on the still vacant manager's post at Meadow Lane. Current caretaker boss Dave Kevan has repeatedly stated he does not want the post full-time.

Meanwhile Chester have been suspended from the Conference for a week after being charged with breaking five different competition rules. On top of the postponed games against Forest Green and Wrexham, they will also now miss a home match with Kidderminster.

In other financial news, Stockport's takeover by Jim Melrose has been turned down by the Football League again. The bid was last turned down two months ago, and has now been on the table for eight months.
