Oldham have sacked manager John Sheridan this afternoon.
The Latics lost 6-2 to MK Dons yesterday to send them tumbling out of the play-off spots, and had won only one of their last six matches. A bonding trip to a dog track ended up with Sheridan scuffling with striker Lee Hughes, with reports suggesting both were lucky to retain their jobs.
Sheridan had spent over ten years at Oldham as player, coach, and manager, having two previous spells in temporary charge before taking full control of the team in 2006.
