Preview: Bulls vs Walsall

The Bulls will entertain Walsall on Saturday looking to end a ten match run without a win against the team top of the table.

The last encounter was in December 1994 when goals from Nicky Cross, Tony James (the first!), and Steve White were not enough at the Bescot Stadium as Walsall ran out 4-3 winners. Bulls fans have to look back to an FA Cup encounter in 1990 for the last victory. That Edgar Street 2-1 win saw the Bulls entertain Manchester United in the next round.

The Bulls are defending a four match unbeaten run with three straight league wins. The last away league wins, at high flying Swindon and MK Dons, were the Bulls first positive results against the top five clubs after early defeats to Wycombe and Lincoln, leaving Walsall as the only top five club the Bulls are yet to face.

Walsall's drab 0-0 draw at Macclesfield in the FA Cup, which has summed up their recent performances, saw defender Craig Pead dismissed for a nasty tackle, and he will miss Saturday's game. Walsall are unbeaten at home, with eight wins out of nine, but on their travels they have managed just three wins from eight games so far. Their last four away games has seen three draws and a win over Accrington, and they have scored just six goals in their last seven games overall, but have conceded just two in that time. Top scorer Michael Butler has six, but hasn't scored in the last eight games, with team of the week regular Dean Keates on five and without a goal in six.

Hereford United vs Walsall, Edgar Street, Saturday November 18th, 3.00pm.
