Ilkeston Over The Last Twenty Years

Hereford play Ilkeston in the FA Cup on Saturday which has given BN every reason to look back at mentions of the visitors over the last twenty years.
 

Thursday Novenber 29th 2005:

Former Bulls striker Phil Stant has resigned as manager of Ilkeston Town after a poor start to the season left the Club rooted to the bottom of the Unibond Premier after promotion last season. One of the names rumoured to replace Stant is another ex-Bull, and former Chesterfield manager, Nicky Law.

Teesdale released by Telford 

Former Hereford United defender Richard Teesdale has been released by Telford.

Teesdale suffered from injury problems during the second half of last season which restricted his first team chances. He went on loan to Ilkeston Town to regain his fitness. In two years he made 51 appearances for the Bucks.

He joined Hereford United from Walsall and made 24 appearances for the Bulls before being released in May 2004.

Monday December 29th 2008

Mansfield have named David Holdsworth as their new manager. The former £1million defender has been boss at Ilkeston Town since the start of 2008

Former Bulls keeper Chris Mackenzie has left Ilkeston and joined up with Phil Gulliver at ambitious Corby Town.

Conf North side Ilkeston Town face court tomorrow over a £47,000 tax debt. The club is back up for sale just five months after last changing hands, with claims that they have lost £2million in total over the last ten years.

Ilkeston Wound Up

Ilkeston Town have been wound up in the High Court over an unpaid tax debt of just over £50,000.

The club offered to pay off the debt at £1,000 a month, claiming that they were also about to sell a player for £20,000, but the court registrar told them at the end of the two minute hearing: "I'm sorry, the company is plainly insolvent and I therefore make the final compulsory order."

The Conf North side, who have ex-Bull Chukki Eribenne on their books, say they are to lodge an appeal.

Ilkeston Town have confirmed that they have appealed against their winding up order. Tomorrow's match has been postponed, and the Official Receiver has also confirmed that they will try to sell the club as a going concern.

December 6th 2010

Mansfield have turned their attention to Ilkeston Town's former ground as a temporary home. The ground has been largely disused since the club folded but is still in good order as a local Academy side plays there.

Friday September 4th 2015:

Worcester have reacted to their poor start to the season by signing veteran striker Lee Hughes. The 39 year old had joined Ilkeston in the Northern League Premier at the start of the season, scoring three times in four games.

Phoenix Club Ilkeston Wound Up

Derbyshire-based Ilkeston FC has this morning been wound up in the High Court, despite a takeover announced hours before.

The club was founded in 2010 after Ilkeston Town was also wound-up in the High Court due to unpaid debts.

The Ilkeston Adverister has reported the club will appeal the decision.

The takeover by ALL EIGHT SPORTS had been agreed in principle but was subject to final agreement, a club statement said.

ALL EIGHT said: "The minute the deal is confirmed officially we will immediately be in contact with creditors, players and fan groups to discuss our proposals and to arrange a Q & A session where we will talk directly to supporters."

It's reported that players and staff hadn't been paid since December, with the takeover

The Robins finished 23rd in the Northern Premier last season, meaning they were relegated to step four.
