Caddis missed out on Tom Pugh this summer - but he hasn't ruled out a return

Paul Caddis has said he did try to sign former loanee Tom Pugh after he was released by Scunthorpe United this summer.

On loan at Edgar last season, Pugh spent more than two months at the club where he scored one goal and quickly became a fans' favourite.

He was released by Scunthorpe this summer and National League, full-time side Halifax moved to sign him.

But Paul Caddis told tonight's fans' forum that he could look at bringing Pugh back on loan if he's not getting enough game time.

"Tom Pugh calls me daddy, and I'm not his dad by the way," Caddis said.

"Tom Pugh loved it at this football club. He did, he loved working under us because he felt loved. He knew the supporters enjoyed watching him.

"We thought we had him, we genuinely did, I thought I had him and I was absolutely buzzing but then he just got a better deal from Halifax to go full time, to stay closer to home and play in a higher division.

"Tom's one that we might look at if he's not playing regularly in the next three, four months. If we need a central midfielder we might go and look at him.

"We were in the market, we were very close. We were almost done until Halifax came in at the last minute."

Caddis also said Tom Pugh was instrumental in getting 6ft 8in goalkeeper Aaron Chapman to join Hereford this summer, having formerly played together at Scunthorpe.
