We Were Hamstrung Said Caddis

Both 16 Year Old Shay Sterry And Arwyn Walby Were On The Hereford Bench

Paul Caddis had problems selecting enough fit or available players for this afternoon's FA Trophy game against Gateshead.

"We were very hamstrung," said the Hereford manager.

"The plan was never to play a back three, we worked on something completely different.

"My hands were tied.

"Eventually we lost Ceesay and Tope as late as this morning. They trained Thursday.

"Ceesay has been struggling a little bit but the type of character he is he wants to just keep playing.

"He went down against Darlington and opened up his knee a little bit, something we are going to have to look at and hopefully get him scanned this week.

"Tope got, excuse the pun, a sore toe. His toe has been bothering him the last few days. Again he offered to play but I just felt the best thing was not to risk it.

"We've got a lot of games coming up. The bigger picture was if Tope had played today he might have missed the next two or three games.

"I made the decision so we lost those two.

"I think with those two in the team and that's not taking away anything from the lads who played, we probably missed ball carriers.

"Ceesay is a ball carrier, Tope with his experience and I think it's a different type with all due respect to Ollie and Skins, as wingbacks they are naturally defensive but we had no other options.

"We had two 16 year olds on the bench with Roons and Lyden who could only manage 20/25 minutes."

Andy Williams had a nasty knock to his shoulder at the end of the first half.

"We were going to take Willo off at half time, he landed on his shoulder. We don't know if it's come out or not.

"Just one of those days so we had to get Willo off the pitch and we'll access that this week as well.
