Sir Mo Farah, the most successful male track distance runner ever, could be watching some National League North football this season.

If that's at Hereford remains to be seen, but it's likely he could be spotted at Banbury United's Spencer Stadium.

His cousin hopes he can get the legendary athlete - the most successful British track athlete in modern Olympic Games history - along to a match this coming season after signing for the club.

Yonis Farah has joined the Puritans this summer after stints in Scandinavia, and the 23-year-old left-back had been on trial with the Oxfordshire side.

Nowm he is looking forward to getting stuck into the Vanarama National League North season, which kicks off on Saturday at home to Spennymoor Town.

But speaking to the Oxford Mail about his cousin, he said: “He always gives really good advice on fitness and nutrition, and he’s got great knowledge of sports.

“He knows I play football and he’s interested when I play. He’s a massive football fan and I’ll try and get him down to a game at some point.

“He’s a busy guy but hopefully he can come down to a game.”
