In a statement, the Linnets said chairman Stephen Cleeve and Gold had held constructive talks but the player felt it was time to move on.
As reported in Lynn News, Cleeve said: “We’re grateful for Gold’s contribution. He has dealt with things in a very mature way.
"He always acknowledged the part this club played in helping his career move forward, and is a model professional.”
Gold scored 25 goals for King's Lynn in the National League North last season, helping the club achieve a play-off spot.
The Swiss striker has moved to National League side AFC Fylde.
