A Great Day For Everyone Said Thompson-Sommers

Kane Thompson-Sommers scored the only goal of this afternoon's game against Kettering.

Afterwards the Hereford midfielder, who was the man of the match, spoke to the local media.

"I thought today was a really good for the team and me personally as well," said Thompson-Sommers.

"It was really good that we could get the three points.

"I thought we started really well and had a great first half and we went in at half-time thinking if we could keep this up then we could get the three points especially if we could keep a clean sheet.

"The defence was great and the attackers were good today and we probably could have scored more but we got the three points in the end. A great day for everyone.

"Kettering are a hard working team, tough to beat, and we knew that so we had to stay focused all game.

"And we knew if we switched off for one minute then we could be 1-0 down. It happened a few times here at home.

"So we knew if we just kept focused that we could create the chances and eventually we managed to get the goal and win 1-0.

"We had a few chances in the first half, Stors was unlucky in the second half when he hit the bar, then a great save from their keeper.

"But we just had to keep going same intensity.

"Yan said at half time the goal will come but we just had to stay focused at the other end because there could easily be a sucker-punch and sometimes you don't get what you deserve in football."

Thompson-Sommers has been a first choice midfielder recently.

"I've played a lot of games in a row now.

"I think at the start, when I first came, I was trying to get used to it and I was struggling a bit with consistency and a few injury issues I had.

"But now I feel like I'm really starting to hit my stride and play with confidence and that comes from the other boys and the manager Yan has been great.

"I just happy to get on the pitch every week."

His goal came ten minutes into the second half.

"We were saying at half time that we need to get in the box.

"When the crosses are coming in we need to attack the ball as if we really want to score and that's what Yan said at half time.

"So I saw the ball go to the back post, Stors did great to get as flick on it and I just attacked it.

"I could see the goal ahead of me and I just thought if I get there first I would have a great chance of scoring.

"And that's what happened."
