75% Of Hereford's Players Can Be On Contract

Hereford chairman Jon Hale has said there can be more contracted players in the squad this season.

Last season questions were asked why certain players who left the club during the season were not on contract.

"It's been well documented in terms of the split of contracted and non-contracted players.

"We did up that.

"It's now 75% contracted which has helped Josh (Gowling)

"He knows he can't go over the budget.

"There is an element of non-contracted players here which if things didn't go quite right it gives us a bit of flexibility. We don't want to be doing that because we want to be successful and hopefully keep the squad together as it is and we move on together.

"But there are controls in place but at the end of the day if Josh has a player he wants to sign and it's within budget then Josh can sign that player with the approval of the board.

"Within the framework that we have yes he can move players from non-contract to contract so there is flexibility there as long as it's within the budget and within the framework.

"I'm not going to say too much about what happened last season. All I will say is that there are too sides to every story.

"I know we got a bit of criticism for it but there was an awful lot of work going on in the background and I'm afraid in football sometimes it doesn't work out for you.

"It may appear it left egg on our faces but it didn't.

"We were very happy with the way we deal with both of the situations which came up last season, that's gone now."
