Richards Really Happy With A Point Against The 'Best Footballing Team'

Marc Richards said Hereford's performance was only 'okay' after they came from a goal down to earn a share of the spoils at Altrincham this afternoon.

Richards said his side had more possession today than is recent weeks and was pleased with the point picked up on the road.

"I think Altrincham are probably the best footballing team in the league," Richards said after the game.

"They've been on a hell of a a run and probably scored their play-off spot today. A point away from home is a good result, and probably an okay performance I'd say.

"The way they play with the rotations and how comfortable they are in possession, they make it expansive, makes it difficult for you to have to much of the ball. On the flip side, they are quite open when you do receive possession.

"We probably had more of the ball today that what we have done in recent games, in terms of being able to pass it and actually shift up the pitch rather than direct like what we have been in recent weeks.

"Overall, really happy with the point away from home, performance okay."

Tom Owen-Evans equalised for Hereford with a well-worked solo-effort.

Richards added: "It's the persistence from him. The amount of closing down he did across their midfield two and their back two.

"He's got his reward from closing the centre-half down and then he took it really well.

"He had a lot of work to do from where he was 35-yards out, then travelled and gave the keeper the eyes and was able to slot it in the bottom corner."

"We rode our luck at times first half. A couple of great blocks from the lads to keep us in the game. Yates has made a great save in the second half and somehow it's stayed out.

"Fair play to the lads, they've worked their socks off. Two games in three days is tough in this heat."
