Hereford have shown they can compete against the top sides in the lead, according to striker Mike Symons speaking after today's 1-1 draw against promotion-chasers Altrincham.
The Bulls fell a goal behind in the game, but a solo-effort from Tom Owen-Evans saw him cancel out Jordan Hulme's strike.
Symons said: "After a hot day on Saturday and a tough game there, coming into today, the weather hot again but not as hot as Saturday, against a team that move the ball well at times.
"We had to work hard as a group to cover a lot of ground and stop them playing which we did at times. Frustrated them a bit as well, when we had the ball we got it down and played, mixed the game up when available.
"One or two were missing, but you can see why they've scored a lot of goals, they were quite sharp. They're there in the play-offs and we competed quite well against them.
It was a fair result over the last ten or fifteen games we've shown we can play against the top teams, it's just when we get in the lead we've got to manage the game a bit better."
It's been a rollercoaster of a season for both Symons and the Bulls, not only did the striker have a lengthy period out injured, but manager Pete Beadle was also sacked.
"It's been a long season since we started back in August, there was a change within the club as well and we've pushed on since then. The last fifteen games we've shown our capability to play against some of the bigger teams.
"Individually, I had a tough start to the season and the last five or six games it's been tough because there's been a lot of games and a lot of minutes.
"As a group, collectively, we've dug in and you can see the team spirit that we've got here. It bodes well for Hereford next year and I'm sure the aim is to finish higher up than what we have this year after Saturday's game.
"We've got a good balance of players at the moment, we've recruited a few players in and I'm sure they'll be recruiting some players over the summer as well.
"It looks good for next year, a 2-2 draw there, but we competed against them. They will probably win the league after Chorley slipped up today. We've drawn with Chorley at home and drawn with Spennymoor away 2-2 as well."
Apologies for the windy audio!
