Time For Change
Another game which in truth the Bulls were seldom a threat to their opposition simply reinforced the view that the appointment of Davey hasn't worked.
Just five points out of a possible thirty, out of the Carling Cup, 31 yellow cards and one red, and just 4 goals scored in League games against 20 conceeded.
And if that was not enough, the public criticism of several of his players in two of his recent interviews was a step too far in many supporters eyes.
Late last season Hereford United had a squad of players who weren't producing the performances they were probably capable of under John Trewick. Graham Turner took over and, with the same players, form improved.
Players welcomed the change, the dressing room was happier and the supporters returned to Edgar Street.
We are in a similar position this morning. Without a change of manager how many supporters will bother to watch next Saturday's League game against Port Vale is open to debate but could be less than 1500.
And that figure is around 1000 less than chairman David Keyte suggested he needed to balance the books. In truth at present the club is losing a substantial amount of money each week, may be as much as £10,000. This can't continue.
Running any sporting business isn't easy, just consider what the weather has done to the Ryder Cup this weekend, but there can come a time when it may be prudent to cut ones losses before they get any worse.
The cost of parting company with Simon Davey won't be cheap unless he's man enough to offer his resignation before being told to go. His words yesterday in his BBC Hereford and Worcester interview said it all.
"I sulk for 24/48 hours and then I go back to work until somebody tells me not to."
No sign of a resignation in those words. It looks as though he's out to take Hereford United for every penny he can.
As has been said many times since Keyte became chairman, there has been a refreshing change of direction at Edgar Street off the pitch.
However on the pitch the appointment of Simon Davey, no doubt made in good faith and with the best of intentions, has been a disaster. The vast majority of supporters will continue to back Keyte with his vision for the future so long as he and the board part company with Davey as soon as possible.
Vice-chairman Russon wasn't at Barnet yesterday. He was said to be filming. One supporter speculated he might have been talking to a potential new manager.
If only.
