There are just three more evenings to watch 'The Goal' which is a play about five Hereford United ballboys and one ballgirl during the famous 1971/72 season.
'The Goal is a play about
nostalgia - about growing up as teenagers in Hereford in the early
1970’s set against the backdrop of Hereford United’s famous FA Cup run
and election to the Football League.
The relationships between the 6 main characters are played out in
this bittersweet comedy featuring many famous songs from the period as
the season unfolds.
For the football fans there are unique insights into the
relationships between the players and what goes on in the dressing room.
The play will appeal to those 14,000 people who were there in the
ground the day Hereford United defeated Newcastle and all of those who
couldn’t get a ticket. It will appeal to anyone who grew up in Hereford
in the early 1970s and it appeal to anyone just looking for an enjoyable
night out at the theatre.
At the end of the play, the audience will have been entertained, be
proud of being a Herefordian and be proud of their football club.'
