Caddis pleased and disappointed - but where is a 20-plus goal striker?

Hereford manager Paul Caddis said he was really pleased with the performance but, most importantly, disappointed with the result as his side fell to a 2-0 defeat at Spennymoor Town.

Having had an overnight stay, Caddis thought the Bulls were "very good" in the first half, passing the ball well and getting into brilliant areas - causing the hosts a "huge amount of problems".

He added: "Must have four or five flashed across the box in comparison to not many from them. You find yourself two-nil down. So, it's frustrating.

"Football's all about moments and that in those moments we didn't score and we switched off defensively and when you're playing against somebody of that quality and you give them a chance, they'll score."

Speaking to the media, it was put to Caddis that Eno Nto did really well down the right-hand side on Saturday afternoon.

He said that while his side created chances, supporters would likely criticise the side after the defeat and be asking for a striker capable of scoring 20 goals a season - but Caddis said that's not an easy signing to make.

"Eno's going to be a huge threat for us," he said. "He's someone we have to be patient with in terms of he's not played a lot of senior men's football.

"You could see he was tiring, and he was tiring after about 50/55 minutes. We're just trying to get as many minutes out of as we possibly can.

"It's a very, very tough place to come. It's been a renowned tough place for Hereford to come, but I thought it's probably the best we've played at Spenny in my time here. I thought we controlled the game, decent in parts. I thought Gus and Matt were very good in the middle of the pitch, calm, exactly what we thought we'd get out them.

"Again, we created chances. We created chances.

"I know absolutely everybody will be screaming in the comments and all the rest about this 20-plus goal scorer.

"You don't, you can't, just go and sign a 20-plus goal scorer. That's not how it works.

"There's only two, I think, in the division that scored 20 in the last four or five years. It's [Paul] Blackett, who's full-time at South Shields and it's Glenn Taylor [at Spennymoor] and then you've got others that have been at full-time clubs.

"So it's not as easy as that to go and sign a 20-plus goal scorer. We think we've got goals in the team. People might have a pop back at that after the chances we created today and didn't score, but I'm really pleased with the group.

"I'm really pleased with performance but most importantly I'm disappointed with the result.
