Gosport Sack Manager Pike - Again

For the second time this season Gosport Borough have parted company with manager Alex Pike.

Pike was dismissed in September by acting-chairman Iain Sellstrom, before being reappointed in December by his successor Iain McInness.

But after failing to win any of his 14 games in charge and the club four points adrift at the bottom of the table, there had been speculation over Pike's future after the board discussed it 'at depth' last week.

As reported on BN yesterday, the pair were due to meet today and a club statement was issued a short time ago.

McInness said: "Alex Pike and I agreed to take some ‘time out’ over the deliberations on his continuation in the role of manager. As reported Alex did have some family issues that needed his personal and acknowledged attention, as a private matter.

"Now I can confirm that Alex will not be returning to the club as manager and that much has been agreed and accepted. Any ongoing matters regarding that arrangement will be strictly a matter between myself the board and Alex as appropriate.

"There will be no further statement from anyone at the club as that aspect of the matter is now confidential and closed."

Striker Rowan Vine, assistant manager Louie Bell and coach Jay Keating will take care of first team duties.
