With Hereford FC due to play Fleetwood at Edgar Street in a FA Cup 2nd round replay. Lets head back to the 16th December 1997 where the Bulls dispatched higher level Colchester United to secure a place in the 3rd round against Tranmere.
The initial clash at Layer Road ended 1-1 with a Neil Grayson equaliser after former Hereford loanee David Gregory put the U's in the lead. A very cold Edgar Street hosted the replay where Steve Forbes put the visitors ahead, only for Neil Grayson to reply a minute later. Goalkeeper Andy deBont was the hero in the penalty shoot out as the Bulls won 5-4 via spot kicks.
