Beadle: Mills is a Phenomenon Without a Doubt

Hat-Trick Hero John Mills With Garyn Preen
Some more post-match comments from Hereford manager Pete Beadle.

Interviewer Keith Hall asked Beadle about John Mills, who scored three of the four goals this afternoon.

"Did anyone know he was out there? They knew he was there when he scored, but between that?

"He does what he does. He is the exception by far because he can contribute so little to a game outside of the box, his work rate and his physicality, but he does come away with a hat trick two games on the bounce.

"Sometimes he needs to be more of a team player, and sometimes when he doesn't perform for the team, it's frustrating, because when he does come off or doesn't start, you get some stick.

"Sometimes he does need to contribute a little bit more, and he has done it and we know he can do it.

"But he is a phenomenon without a doubt."

And Mills goals?

"To have two hat tricks back to back he's done exceptionally well. Fair play to him for stepping up and taking the penalty, because he missed one last week, but the third goal was quality, a great finish."

18-year old Dara O’Shea was back in the starting XI this afternoon. He was unavailable last weekend due to international duty.

"Dara is a talent. He's not at West Brom and play for his country because he's an average player. He’s brought something different to the team, and some of the basics he does he does so well.

"When he clears the ball, he clears it. Sometimes when we clear it, it's straight on the centre-half's head and we’re under pressure again.

"He's got all the basics and it's not easy at 18 to come and play for us or at this level, but he's taken to it like a duck to water."

The bench looked a lot stronger this afternoon with Haysham, Symons, Purdie all coming on as substitutes.

"Jamie (Molyneux) was unlucky to miss out today and Pabs as well dropping to the bench but no disrespect to the players that were on the bench last week you look at the bench this week, Purdie, Symons, Haysham, Preston, all players that can make an impact and make a difference.

"Far more varation and different options, so it's nice to start having them back and hopefully they will start to get fitter with more game time. Then the competition will be exactly what we are looking for and we've still got Lance Smith and Jack Deaman to come back as well.

"We want to get everybody 100% fit as in their injuries have cleared up and they are chomping at the bit. That will push everybody to another level and that's what we are trying to achieve."
