Beadle Explains Why Jamie Edge Has Left Edgar Street

Jamie Edge Scores At Tonbridge
In an interview with BBC Hereford and Worcester, Hereford manager Peter Beadle has spoken about why Jamie Edge has left Edgar Street.

"Disappointing because I've known Jamie for a long time first with Hereford United," said Beadle.

"It just hasn't worked out for him, he hasn't got himself going.

"He understands that and I went and met him to explain that to him. It's only fair to give him an opportunity to go and play some games.

"Even at St Neots I brought Rob on before Jamie. Jamie hasn't missed any training, missed any games. He hasn't missed any games.

"But I put Rob on who has only just come back so I'm overlooking him at the moment because he wasn't really doing what we were looking for him to do.

"So the best thing for him, if I'm overlooking him now, is to go and play somewhere where he is going to play. I explained that to him and he understood.

"He is obviously bitterly disappointed in having to leave but I think it was the right thing to do at the right time.

"I got asked a question in the recent forum why sometimes John Mills plays on his own and sometimes you can't change the formation for one player and I think Jamie is more suited to a 4/3/3.

"I can't change the team to suit one person, it needs to suit everybody with the way we play.

"So if people don't fit into that then it's not going to work.

"Jamie tried his hardest but he didn't have a great season last season and fell well below his standards anfd what we thought he would bring to the team.

"But he worked hard during the summer and came back fit and bright and ready to go but again it hasn't worked out for him.

"It's a shame because he is a very talented footballer and at 23 he's only a young man.

"I know he wanted to stay and be a success here but right now it's probably the wrong time for him here at the moment. So instead of him hanging around and getting stale it's best for us and him to move on and try and find somewhere where he will play a bit more often."
