With the FA Vase final at Wembley not that many games ahead, Onlooker suggests that players might want to be on their best behaviour over the remaining games.
'With the end of the regular season fast approaching thoughts will
soon turn to the FA Vase final at Wembley. It would be extremely cruel
if any of our players had to sit this match out through suspension, so
extreme caution is required over the next few games.
'The two match suspension for ten yellow cards disappears this
weekend and is replaced by a three match ban for fifteen. We can safely
assume this will not affect any Hereford players so the only danger
lies in a sending off. A three match ban resulting from a sending off on
Saturday would be served before Wembley only if we reach the League cup
final. A one match ban resulting from a sending off for a professional
foul or two yellow cards on Tuesday would also be served if we reach the
League cup final. This would also be the case for a one match ban
earned next Thursday if we reach the final and it takes place on or
after Thursday 5th May. Any suspensions incurred after next Thursday
would almost certainly rule the player out of a Wembley appearance.
'Our disciplinary record is very good but it is so easy nowadays for
a goalkeeper or last defender to be sent off for a professional foul or
for a player to retaliate that our players must not put themselves in
that position. So in the words of the sergeant from Hill Street Blues,
for those old enough to remember that series, “let’s be careful out
there.” '
