News Round-Up

Grimsby have reported a loss of £78,000 for the 2014/15 season. The Mariners made the Conference play-off final but still saw turnover drop, although cuts in spending saw the loss only being a third of that the previous season. The club employs 50 full time staff, and another 280 in part time or match day roles, and remains in need of the Directors to cover the ongoing losses.

Rumours circulating that Step 5 Wessex League side Hamworthy United are to close are not true according to a club spokesman. The manager quit last week citing family commitments, taking his assistant and coach with him, just two weeks after claims that the playing budget had been cut. The Hammers are currently ninth in the table, with an average gate of 76.

Southend United have received another winding up petition from HMRC. Their last petition was dismissed in the court only six weeks ago. Northampton's Council are to hold an extraordinary meeting tonight to discuss the situation over the club. The club's Supporters Trust has warned fans that having to go down the phoenix club route is a 'serious possibility' if a buyer doesn't complete a deal for the club.
