Probably As Good As It's Been Said Beadle

Joel Edwards Leading The Hereford Starting XI
Speaking after this afternoon's friendly at a warm and sunny Merthyr, Hereford FC manager Peter Beadle praised the hard work of all of his squad.

"We've had three probably as tough games as you could get in a week," said Beadle.

"And we've had three different sides started and finished the games.

"That probably was as good as we've been in the three games, a bit more cohesive.

"The further through pre-season we go, the better we'll get.

"We've got some fantastic young players here at the moment and even the ones that came on today made an impact, but it was a great workout.

"We've played two lots of champions and an under 21 premier league team and we've done well. The results are irrevelent, performances okay so we're happy.

"Touch wood not too many injuries, only little niggly ones. Everyone seems fit. We're getting better with every game we play."

Beadle let five players go last week but still had plenty of bodies about this afternoon.

"However when we play our last three games we are as close to where we are going to start the season. But there are still places up for grabs.

"Today they've made it tougher for me, because some of the ones who hadn't stepped up to the mark, have stepped up to the mark and done very well."

One of today's three new trialists was midfielder Aaron Birch.

"He's done okay. He's one of them.

"You find them as they come through pre-season. As you go through pre-season different people will pop up and Arron we made contact with him yesterday and he's come down. I think he had an offer to go to Stourbridge and play there but he's come today and done himself the power of good. I thought he was excellent.

"He's got a great pedigree, he's been at West Brom for a long time but needs to play some senior football. If he plays like that on Tuesday he's going to be up there in our thoughts."

Beadle said the players didn't like the 3G pitch.

"This time of year their feet are on fire because of the rubber crumb. When it's dry the ball doesn't roll or it's not as slick as a grass pitch when it's wet.

"So I thought they aquitted themselves great especially when you're playing a team that have played on it for a full season.

"I thought we were competitive for most part of the game and that's pleasing for us."

Finally Beadle was asked about Dunkirk who are the visitors to Edgar Street on the first day of the season.

"We've got a home game on the first day of the season which is what we wanted.

"We hope that people will come and stick with us.

"We've just got to make sure that every game we play we keep getting better."
