Parrott Would Be Devastated At Club's Demise

Club Historian Ron Parrott spoke to BBC Hereford and Worcester earlier this afternoon about the Bulls' plight:

"The news is devastating really. Obviously not entirely unexpected. We've been in a similar situation in the past. The difference is this time that the mood amongst the supporters appears to be one of almost resignation. There's no anger, no bitterness, nothing like that.

"It's almost as if people have been waiting for this day for a while."

Asked if there was an appetite for a club in the city still, Parrott added: "I'm sure there is. We've proved in the past that potential is there.

"Fans will only come to watch a winning side. The way we have been the last few years attendances have dwindled away to almost nothing."

Asked if restarting from scratch was the way to go: "Unless I win the lottery on Saturday that is probably the only sensible option that is going to be left to us."

Parrott, who has written several books on the club and whose grandfather was previously the Hereford Times sports editor, has been a fan of the club since the 1950's and said he would be 'absolutely devastated' if the club closed:

"We must do everything we possibly can, even if it means rising from the ashes as a phoenix club. Other teams have done it and, if the worst comes to the worst, I'm sure that's what will happen."
