News Round-Up


Luton have axed coaches Alan Neilson and Dmitri Kharine from their backroom setup. Boss John Still is to appoint Hakan Hayrettin as his assistant. The former keeper has been manager at Grays for the last two years. Halifax have signed Buxton defender Marc Roberts for an undisclosed fee. The 22 year old has been a regular for the Evo-Stik League side for the last two years.

Nuneaton have signed striker Greg Pearson for the coming season. The 28 year old former Burton man left Grimsby earlier in the summer and had a loan spell with Kidderminster last term. Chester have signed forward Alex Titchener on loan from Fleetwood until January. The 22 year old netted 11 goals in 20 games on loan for Halifax last term.

At a fans forum last night, Macclesfield boss John Askey confirmed that former Bulls defender Mel Pejic would stay on at the club as physio. Askey also told fans that they had 40 trialists in for training including a string of former Silkmen, while director Andy Scott said the pay-to-play idea might be resurrected for a friendly match rather than a senior game. The club are to change their kits this season as they owe former supplier Adidas money and cannot get new stock.

Barnet are now reported to not have planning permission to play Football League matches at The Hive. Harrow Council say that alterations to their planning permission on the site were never completed, and the club will now have to push those changes through in order to qualify for promotion. The Bees have also denied ignoring Wealdstone's claims that they have been ignored over their right to play at the ground, saying they told the lower graded sides that they'd have to pay the costs of using the ground but they were unable to.

Aldershot's Administrator has opened a channel for donations to help the bidders for the club meet their £50,000 shortfall. They have til 5pm today to meet the financial terms of the CVA and keep the club running. Northampton have played down the prospect of Coventry playing at Sixfields, saying a deal has not been concluded. Less than half of Cobblers fans, voting in an online poll, have backed the move while Sky Blues fans say they will fight 'all the way' to keep the club in it's home city. 

Welling have signed two more players ahead of the new season. Defender Doug Bergqvist joins on loan for the season just days after leaving Aldershot for Exeter, while midfielder Callum Webb joins after a year at Bishops Stortford after leaving Arsenal's Academy side. Forest Green are set to miss out on goalkeeper target Jamie Stephens with Newport his likely destination. Gumpers boss Dave Hockaday is looking for a third, young, keeper as a backup.

Cambridge are to trial young midfielder Paddy Mullen. The 19 year old was released by Doncaster earlier in the summer, and has some Conf North experience in a loan spell with Guiseley. Kidderminster have handed former Bull Jamie Tolley the no.5 shirt for the coming season. The Harriers have 19 contracted players so far.
