The Bulls entertain Chelmsford City in a FA Trophy Second Round match at Edgar Street.
From 1945 until 1972 the two sides met as a permanent fixture in the calendar. The Clarets won the Southern League in that final season but the Bulls, in the Runner-up spot, gained election to the Football League. In that final season the two sides met four times, in league and league cup, with the Bulls winning both matches at Edgar Street while drawing both away games.
The Bulls should have winger Simon Hackney available to them as he did not play for Halifax during their FA Trophy games. Boss Martin Foyle will have to decide whether to continue with Phil Marsh as a lone replacement for the injured Ryan Bowman or return to a more familiar 4-4-2 formation. Fans have even suggested that Harry Pell could become the frontman with the Bulls having an abundance of midfielders at their disposal.
Chelmsford boss Glenn Pennyfather has never seen his side finish a season lower than 6th in Conf South in his three seasons in charge. His squad is littered with Conference experience and a few former England 'C' internationals. Striker Jamie Slabber, previously of Grays, has scored 12 this season but is doubtful with an injury, while winger Anthony Cook, formerly of Cardiff's academy, has been a regular provider for Slabber and fellow forward Donovan Simmonds.
Hereford United vs Chelmsford City, Edgar Street, Saturday 15th December, 3.00pm.
