One half of the Blackfriars End is undergoing a refurbishment in the hope it can be used for the forthcoming season.
The 'home' section of the end, nearest the main Merton Stand, has had extra barriers fitted to it and other safety work done to allow it to comply with current ground regulations. While the section awaits final approval from the inspectors, it is expected to be used for larger away support that may visit Edgar Street in the coming season.
Originally claimed to be falling apart, it turns out only the old cage section of the End is unsafe for use. That will remain out of action and may even be demolished during the current season.
A cherry picker is currently in place at Edgar Street putting new advertising hoardings up on the roof of the end, while further new signage is due to go up on the Meadow End with the club soon to announce a major new sponsorship deal.
