News Round-Up


Stockport have released three players including former Bull Jordan Rose. The Defender was briefly on non-contract terms at Edgar Street in September. Manager Jim Gannon has offered new deals to 11 players. Mansfield boss Paul Cox wants assurances from club chairman John Radford before penning a new contract at Field Mill. The 40 year old boss is out of contract next month but has agreed a deal which he will sign once the club confirms it will back him with the money needed to secure promotion.

Former Cheltenham loanee Frankie Artus is one of four players to sign new deals at Grimsby. The Mariners are hopeful of keeping hold of former Alfreton striker Liam Hearn after losing Alan Connell last summer. The 29 goal striker has a contract until 2014. Swindon chairman Jeremy Wray is in hospital undergoing tests after being struck down with mystery leg pains during the club's match with Bradford at the weekend.

Notts County have offered former Bull Gavin Mahon a new deal, but fellow ex-Bull Karl Hawley is one of 13 to be released. Mahon played 34 times for the Magpies after failing to play a senior game for nearly two years due to injury, while Hawley netted only nine times in nearly 100 appearances during three years at the club. Stockport are to consider playing games on Friday nights. They are currently in discussions with Greater Manchester Police over the size of their Policing bill for the current season.

Gainsborough chairman Peter Swann says that promotion to the Conference will be worth £250,000 to his side. The part-timers face Nuneaton in the Conf North play-off final on Sunday having already beaten them twice in the league programme. Swann says he will consider a full-time operation if promotion in achieved. Released Telford midfielder Jon Adams has told the press that manager Andy Sinton 'doesn't like his methods being questioned' and he believes he was frozen out of the squad.

Forest Green have signed striker Phil Marsh from Stalybridge on a two year deal. The 25 year old former Man Utd trainee scored 22 times in Conf North this season. Gateshead have announced that ten players offered new one year deals have signed back up for the coming season. They had released 12 players last week.
