Shots Axe Loanees, Seek Frontmen To Change Fortunes

Aldershot have sent four loanees back to their parent clubs, with boss Dean Holdsworth trying to juggle their budget to reinforce their attacking options.

Holdsworth has returned midfielders Scott Davies, Jamie Day, and Adam Smith, and striker Greg Pearson to their parent clubs with all four failing to make a significant impression on the Shots' first team.

Holdsworth has told the Shots' official site: "We have worked hard to create a little bit of finance. We weren't able to do it this week but I will have one and possibly two centre forwards into the football club that will hopefully make that difference."

The Shots have scored just once in their last seven matches, with top scorer Danny Hylton failing to net in the last ten after twelve goals in twenty games to open the season. Their current record, of four points from the last eight matches, is only ahead of Bristol Rovers and Wimbledon.

Meanwhile, Kettering's hopes of new investment appear to be in danger after boss Mark Cooper threatened to walk out after just one match in his post-match interview on Saturday.

The former Darlington boss told reporters that he had been promised that investors would have been in place by yesterday's 3-1 loss at Telford: "I came in with the guarantee that investors would be in by now. That hasn't happened. I have my own reputation to look after. Let's see what happens over the weekend."
