Yeovil Town football club has seen gate figures drop by around a quarter over the past few seasons and their 'new' manager Gary Johnson has been told by chairman John Fry to try and address the situation.
"There's no point in me standing here telling you that we're going to dig out money, and so forth and so on," Fry told BBC Somerset.
"If people want to come in here and put money into the club, then come forth to the Chairman and they can give me a call. But we run this as a business. Gary has been told that, and Terry knows that. Terry has managed it very very well. We've got limited resources. Gary knows what he is having to deal with. Let him see what the squad is like, let's see what the size of this problem is, and we'll answer it.
"It has to come through the gates and you have to earn it. The club has during the last three years lost about a million pounds on its gate receipts. The gates have gone down from about four-and-a-half (thousand) down to three-and-a-half (thousand). It's about whether Gary can bring the crowds back and produce more income. You can't spend more than what you've got. If you do, then you go broke."
