News Round-Up

Plymouth have taken Rochdale striker Anthony Elding on trial with a view to a move after the player rejected a move to Mansfield. They also fielded Blackburn youngster Tom Hitchcock in their friendly last night with a loan deal expected to be sealed next week. Torquay have resigned goalkeeper Martin Rice to act as their no.2 to Robert Olejnik. Rice, 25, left Plainmoor for Truro two years ago after spending two years as backup keeper.

Brighton have confirmed the signing of Dagenham midfielder Romain Vincelot for a fee believed to be £100,000. The Frenchman's departure means that, along with winger Danny Green, the Daggers have lost the scorers of 22 of their 52 goals last season. Hartlepool finished their £100 season ticket offer on Friday, racking up just over 5,600 sales. Their average attendance last season was just 2,933.

Mathieu Manset scored twice as Reading hammered Slovenian side NK Dravograd 7-0. Manset played only one half as the Royals fielded different sides in each half. Plymouth held talks with the Football League yesterday over their takeover, and were issued with a list of items that need to be resolved. The supporters groups forming a 'rescue plan' say they have a plan in place should the FL veto the sale.
