Stam improved the Balance of the Squad says Addison

Former Hereford United manager Colin Addison has noted the performance of several of last season's squad, in particular Stefan Stam whom he says improved the balance of the side.

"I think young Fleetwood has done so well." Addison told BN.

"The way they've played, the tactics, the system. He's had to fight a long battle on his own.

"Jamie (Pitman) wanted it that way, he wanted to be tight at the back, more compact in mid-field. I can understand that.

"But I hope he goes back to two forwards next year.

"The number one is to win, number two is to win with a bit of style and quality. I'm sure Jamie is aware of that.

"Joe Heath, the left back on loan from Exeter, has impressed me. He's done very well, he's very consistant.

"Ryan Green, his father used to play for me at Newport County many years ago, has done well. He's shown a high level of consistancy.

"And the guy from Yeovil, central defender Stefan Stam. I call him Jaap Stam. He's not quite as good as him but he's on the right track.

"He gave us a bit of balance. We had a better balance when Jamie brought him in.

"We looked a little bit more solid, a little bit more composed. A little bit more tight.

"Stam was the most important change at a critical stage in the season."
