Wrexham has been sold to a consortium headed by Jon Harris.
Harris was previously General Manager at Shrewsbury, and came to Wrexham in late January as Commercial Director as part of a three man consortium involving Rob Bickerton. That trio backed out of the club after supporter protests, but Harris has found a new backer in Colin Poole.
Poole is banned from acting as a director, and is claimed to be an associate of former Chester owner Stephen Vaughan. Vaughan himself is currently in prison, and the statement announcing the sale categorically denies that Vaughan is involved. Poole himself was also barred from acting as a solicitor last week over his involvement in the Claims Direct fiasco. The Law Society ordered him to pay costs, with the interim payment £100,000.
Fans have, unsurprisingly, reacted angrily to the announcement with the vast majority of posters to the Red Passion forum calling for further protests.
