Pitman in charge for Cobblers Match

Jamie Pitman is to be in charge of the Hereford United team for next Saturday's match at Northampton.

"Saturday’s performance has given us time to think about the future and take stock of where we are," chairman David Keyte told the Hereford Times.

"We are delighted at the response from the team and coaching staff and we need to think long and hard over our next step.

"Jamie has done a first-class job in restoring the spirit to the squad and we are happy for him to keep going for Northampton.".

Keyte's decision to keep Pitman in charge for at least one more game may suggest that the board needs a little more time to come to a decision. Should the Bulls win at Northampton under Pitman then the board might be swayed towards appointing a director of football and keep Pitman as manager.

Pitman has also spoken to the HT.

"I just want what’s best for Hereford United. The most important thing now is that we carry on from how we played against the league leaders and give it everything we’ve got at Northampton," he said.

"What happens next depends on how we perform and what results we get. I love my role and work as a physio but I would be crazy to turn my back on a chance to achieve more."
